Chippa Extends Stanley Nwabali’s Contract
Chippa United goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, is set to remain at the club until 2027.
In recent months, the 28-year-old Nigerian international had reportedly attracted interest from the likes of Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates. Additionally, Belgian club, Royale Union Saint-Gilloise – along with Cadiz from Spain – were said to be keeping tabs on him.
On Thursday, 29 August, Chippa released the following statement on their social media accounts:
“We are pleased to announce that Stanley Nwabali has signed an improved three-year contract with Chippa United FC. We are incredibly proud of Stanley’s dedication and commitment to the club. His leadership on and off the field has been exemplary, and we believe he is the right person to guide our team through the challenges ahead.”
As such, the East London outfit has appointed the shotstopper to the following role: “With this being said, Stanley will be our new team captain for the upcoming season.”
Chippa finished in 12th place out of 16 on the Premier Soccer League rankings during their 2023/24 campaign – here’s hoping that the continued presence and leadership of Nwabali will help elevate the team’s performance in the upcoming season!
